Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids provides a space for individuals on a cancer or related grief journey to connect with others, find support, and learn to live with cancer, no matter what the outcome.
FUNdango Cancer Walk 2010 is a 5K indoor walk, where my family & I are walking in honor of families in our community living with cancer. If you have interest, please feel free to either support us financially with a donation and/or join the MbK team online at http://www.firstgiving.com/massagesbykari and walk with us on March 13, 2010!
May 22, 2010 ~ MS Walk Grand Rapids
Aquinas College, 1607 Robinson Road SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506

The MS Walk is an important fundraiser event to my family as my husband, Josh, was diagnosed 5 years ago with multiple sclerosis.
Multiple sclerosis (or MS) is a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system (CNS), which is made up of the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. Symptoms may be mild, such as numbness in the limbs, or severe, such as paralysis or loss of vision. The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of MS are unpredictable and vary from one person to another.
Although there is still no cure for MS, effective strategies are available to modify the disease course, treat exacerbations (also called attacks, relapses, or flare-ups), manage symptoms, improve function and safety, and provide emotional support. In combination, these treatments enhance the quality of life for people living with MS.
My husband, Josh, has vowed that as long as he is still walking that he will continue to pave the way for a cure. Josh is one of the "lucky" ones; he is, for the most part, able to live life without too much pain and loss of function.
If you have interest, please feel free to either support us financially with a donation to our team "Still Walking," and/or join the "Still Walking" team online at http://main.nationalmssociety.org/site/TR/Walk/MIGWalkEvents?pg=team&fr_id=13974&team_id=186457 and walk with us on May 22, 2010! I will not only be walking at this event, but giving free chair massages for the walkers who participate!
